HISTORY

Things to Come Mission was founded by Herbert & Jessie Palmer and incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1955. The Hope Mission formed by mission-minded students at Milwaukee Bible Institute merged with Things to Come Mission to send out TCM’s first missionaries to the Philippines in 1958. TCM currently works in 14 countries outside the USA.

PURPOSE

TCM is dedicated to the task of preparing people for Christ’s return through the message and methods of Apostle Paul. This involves preaching the gospel of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone, training believers for ministry and leadership, and establishing indigenous local churches on all fields where we minister.

MESSAGE

TCM remains committed to proclaiming the distinctive message entrusted by God to Apostle Paul as stated in Ephesians 3:1-9. It is the message of God’s super-abundant grace as our guide in every aspect of ministry. We believe that by grace we are saved, sanctified and sealed; through grace we live to honor and glorify Christ; and compelled by grace we are commissioned as ambassadors of Christ to share the message of reconciliation with the world. (2 Corinthians 5:11-6:2)

METHOD: TROAS STRATEGY

TCM implements the 5 phases of the “Troas Strategy” for ministry on all our fields.

TARGET: TCM targets unreached peoples with the gospel of God’s grace. We intentionally determine those nations and peoples we believe God is calling us to reach based on how effectively the churches to be established will impact the entire nation.

PLANT: The primary responsibility of TCM missionaries is to organize self-sustaining churches on every field. As churches mature they are to reproduce themselves, thus creating a movement of churches linked together by a common bond.

TRAIN: TCM missionaries ensure that sufficient leaders are trained in a solid knowledge of the Word of God and the skills necessary to keep the national churches viable and capable of passing the truth on to another generation. This is accomplished through a variety of means, such as formal and informal mentoring, Bible schools and modular classes.

RELEASE: Once a reproducing national church is established, the missionary moves on to the next target area. When the missionary leaves, the national church is able to take full responsibility for its own spiritual and numerical progress.

PARTNER: Mature national churches are challenged to realize their own role in global evangelization. They partner with TCM by sending missionaries from their own churches and providing a percentage of their financial support.

FAITH PRINCIPLE

By faith, TCM relies fully on God to provide for all needs of the mission, missionaries and fields. We do not ask for pledges of support. Instead, TCM representatives and missionaries share their vision and calling with other believers, then step out in faithing, trusting the Lord to provide for their financial needs. As a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, TCM serves as a channel of donations to our missionaries, fields and national workers. 100% of donations are used for the designated purpose. Administrative expenses are covered by donations to the General Fund.

LEADERSHIP

The practical leadership of TCM is handled by a team of 4 directors serving under the TCM Board. The directors meet online once a month to report on their areas and discuss pertinent issues. Jim Tollar, a TCM board member, currently serves as the Executive Director, chairing the director meetings and liaising with the TCM board. Most of the leadership responsibilities for TCM are handled by the other directors.

Ben Anderson, the International Director, is in charge of TCM’s overseas missionaries and fields. Ben helps each field develop their strategy for reaching their own country while looking at new countries to reach with wonderful message of God’s saving grace. Ben and his wife Joyce, operate from bases at KGBI in Kenya and the Manila Mission House in the Philippines.

The Development Director oversees missionary candidates and missionaries on home assignment and promotes TCM among USA churches and affiliated Grace organizations and educational institutions. Nathan Bullock currently serves in this role.

Valerie Anderson Wynalda, the Office Administrator, manages the TCM home office in Indianapolis along with overseeing the TCM mission apartment and mission vehicles. Valerie is assisted in home office operations by veteran TCM missionary Pauline Watkins and her daughter, Cindy LaVier. Pauline handles income and receipts. Cindy is employed on a part-time basis to do the bookkeeping and transferring of funds.
